New Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment Member

The Dawson County Planning Commission has an opening for a new member.

The Planning Commission is tasked with the responsibility of reviewing and making recommendations to the County Board of Commissioners regarding applications for Special and Conditional Use permitting, proposed amendments to the Comprehensive Plan & Zoning Regulations, among others. Examples include: Cellular Towers, Livestock facilities, Conservation Easements, Commercial businesses, etc.

This 7 member body generally meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month (and as needed), at 7:00 p.m. at the County Commissioner’s Meeting Room, Dawson County Courthouse, Lexington, Nebraska.

Desirable qualities include a strong interest in the diversity of community issues and public needs, an ability to review meeting materials in advance, skills in communicating with the public and practical experience in related land use areas.

This is a voluntary position.

The Dawson County Board of Adjustment has an opening for a new member.

This Zoning Board of Adjustment shall hear and decide on requests for appeals, special exceptions and variances, re-zoning, and is responsible for matters of interpretation of the Comprehensive Plan & Zoning Regulations and Official Zoning Map, etc.

This 5 member body meets on as needed basis and meetings are generally held at 7:00 pm at the County Commissioner’s Meeting Room, Dawson County Courthouse, Lexington, Nebraska.

Desirable qualities include the ability to understand and decipher legal documents, an ability to review meeting materials in advance, skills in communicating with the public and practical experience in related land use areas.

This position is voluntary.
